How to add an advanced search tab
You know of a media search engine that returns lists of results in RSS format? or using Pump's XML format? Here is how you can add it to Pump:
- By clicking plus "+" in the Search section, or the search preferences, click to add a search engine
- Select "Advanced search tab"
- Type (or paste) the URL of the search engine, putting VIPEERSQUERY where the search keyword should stand
-
Example: the URL of the query is http://service.openkapow.com/vipeers/btetreeorg?query=grateful+dead when you're looking for content from the Grateful Dead. Just replace grateful+dead with VIPEERSQUERY and you have your URL. In this case it should be: http://service.openkapow.com/vipeers/btetreeorg?query=VIPEERSQUERY.
- Click on Check to validate the new search engine. Note that the button is active only when the query URL has the proper syntax.
-
- If the search engine returns a result in Pump's XML format, the information concerning the search engine are displayed and you just need to click on the "Add" button to add a new tab to your future searches. Otherwise (i.e. for the case of RSS format results) you will have to indicate the type of the search engine: web pages (split view) or content links (grid view), and select betwee, Music, Videos and Torrents.
-
Note that if the search engine doesn't provide a result in the proper XML format, the process is canceled.
