Third party downloadable components for Pump
Pump does a lot of things out of the box. But reinventing the wheel is not our ambition, so we have managed to make it work with some of the best third party products to enhance its features and give more possibilities to you, the user.
This page offers a list of freely downloadable software that has been tested with Pump. They are not developed or supported by us, but we think you will enjoy them nonetheless.
Media playback
Pump supports many media formats for playback based on the most popular media players: Microsoft's Windows Media Player, Apple's QuickTime Player and VideoLan's VLC Media Player.
Windows Media Player (WMP) is the component that you must already have on your PC, so you have several options to extend the playback possibilities of Pump to support formats such as MP4, FLV and MOV:
- install third party codecs to extend WMP - see below
- install VLC - see below
- install QuickTime - see below
- or several of the above options
The Combined Community Codec Pack
CCCP is probably the most reliable combination of free codecs. Download and install it to enhance the playback possibilities of Windows Media Player and Pump.
Get CCCP from the CCCP project web-site
VLC Media Player
VLC is a great media player. Pump makes use of the VLC ActiveX in order to playback content with VLC directly within Pump.
Get VLC from the VideoLan official web-site
QuickTime Player
This is probably the most reliable combination of free codecs. Download and install it to enhance the playback possibilities of Windows Media Player and Pump.
Get QuickTime Player from Apple's web-site.
Media encoding
Pump enables to rip audio CDs and encode them. The default encoding format is WMA, which is suported thanks to WMP. But you can also encode the ripped tracks to MP3 if you install a component.
Lame MP3 encoder
Pump can encode MP3 tracks if you install the LAME software encoder on your PC.
Download Lame installer right here
